We all need something a little FANCY in our lives…
Wild Indiana’s custom-designed cutlery has a soft silicone handle with a stainless steel component, perfect for your babe as they learn to master cutting and self-feeding!
Each piece of cutlery has a wider end to the handle to help little hands grip, encouraging with the last two fingers to wrap around (called hand division, the ability to flex the little and middle fingers into the palm to stabilise the arch is an important developmental hand skill to get hands ready for more complex tasks later on, such as grasping a pencil). The top of the handle, near the stainless steel head is also flat which makes it easier to position the index finger pad flat on the top. Called a digital pronate grasp, the positioning of an implement in the palm with the index finger positioned on the top and the little and ring fingers wrapped around the back is one of the developmental grasp patterns that progresses the hand from a fisted grasp to more mature grasps such as a tripod grasp used on a pencil.
