Threading with a stiff thread makes children more successful with threading but also encourages the development of the small muscles of the hand (intrinsic muscles) as the children are encouraged to push the thread through the lacing hole rather than putting the bead or object over the lace. This lace is thin enough to fit through a large variety of objects while being stiff enough to encourage finger movement.
